The Faculty of Sciences and Technology, founded in 2020, is aiming in becoming an elite School of Sciences, Technology and Engineering in Cyprus and Greece gaining at the same time international recognition from the academic community. This quick establishment and the daily achievements are mainly attributed to its world-class academic staff members who remain committed to the primary goals of the School to advance teaching, promote research excellence and build strategic relationships with the Scientific and Engineering world. These collective goals are achieved through the use of modern teaching and learning methods, and, the implementation of effective internship programs designed to provide students with a balanced combination of theory, scientific knowledge and up-to-date practice.
In addition, the Faculty of Sciences and Technology is proud to announce the recent establishment of the interdepartmental Artificial Intelligence Unit, which will be assisting all University’s research activities on AI. Internal and external stakeholders are welcome to visit our facilities and discuss the requirements and possible implementations of upcoming high-budgeted research proposals. External partners are reinforced to seek advice even before start writing a proposal. Based on our experience, this service has worked excellently with determined professors/stakeholders that already had a solid idea or even a written project proposal. We are working with world-class partners and high-budgeted projects. We will continue attracting serious partners that wish to develop ambitious high-budgeted projects. Due to the world-class reputation of our AI specialization for various applications, blocks of 6 to 8 courses are being offered externally to the public.
Therefore, the interested parties get the opportunity to further experience the scientific miracles that can be achieved using the latest deep learning techniques. The AI specialization course as being offered by AUCY is suitable for all people, independent of their previous knowledge, level of mathematics, or programming skills.
The AI Unit is in close collaboration with the Faculty’s Research Centers, the University’s Research Office, and the Careers Office for better exploring the available research funding opportunities and research work allocation. This guarantees better employment opportunities to our students and, especially, to our students that were assigned research duties during their third year and continued working during their final year and, then, as post-graduate MSc and Ph.D. students.
I would like to wish you every success with your studies and to remind you that all members of the AUCY family will be here to support your dreams and ambitions constantly on a daily basis.
