Who can apply?

Current AUCY undergraduate and postgraduate students (up to a year after they graduate).

Selection Criteria

Applications are assessed based on:

• Academic performance
• Language proficiency
• Motivation
• Compatibility of study programme
• Availability of Erasmus+ places

Recognition of Erasmus+ Studies

The American University of Cyprus fully recognises successfully completed Erasmus+ study periods in accordance with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE).

Courses successfully completed at the host institution will be recognised upon the student's return, provided that:

• a Learning Agreement has been approved before the mobility
• any changes have been formally approved during the mobility
• the student has successfully completed the agreed courses
• the host institution has issued an official Transcript of Records

Credits earned abroad will be transferred using the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

Students will not be required to repeat successfully completed courses recognised through Erasmus+ mobility.

Recognition of Staff Mobility

Teaching and training mobilities completed under Erasmus+ are recognised as part of the University's internationalisation strategy and contribute to the professional development of academic and administrative staff.

Following completion of the mobility, staff members submit:

• a Certificate of Attendance
• the EU Participant Report
• a Mobility Report outlining the outcomes of the visit

The knowledge and experience gained are shared with colleagues through departmental meetings, presentations or workshops whenever appropriate.

Information about ECTS

The ECTS credit system is implemented at AUCY following an institutional framework to determine the number of credits per course/programme. ECTS refers to the European Credit Transfer System which is a learner-centred system for credit accumulation and transfer based on transparency in relation to learning, teaching and assessment processes.

ECTS credits reflect the learning that has been acquired by an individual taking into account the learning outcomes and workload. 60 ECTS credits are allocated per a fulltime academic year to educational components such as course units, dissertations etc. ECTS credits are awarded to learners upon achieving the learning outcomes of the qualification and/or its components. Credits awarded in one programme may be transferred to another programme at the same institution or another.
