The American University of Cyprus (AUCY) proudly celebrated its 2026 Graduation Ceremony on July 10, 2026, at its campus in Larnaca, under the auspices of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mr. Costas Fitiris, and was honored by the presence of the AUCY Board of Trustees, Dr. Tarek Sadek, Chairman; Mr. Christos Karas, Chairman; Rector Dr. Mark-Antoine Zabbal; Mr. Joe Ibrahim; and Mr. Farid Haikal. The ceremony also welcomed distinguished religious leaders, Members of Parliament, representatives of the Cyprus Police and Fire Service, prominent business leaders, faculty members, graduates, families, and numerous distinguished guests from across Cyprus.

The event reflected the university's continued growth, its expanding international community, and its commitment to academic excellence.

The ceremony commenced with the formal entrance of the graduating Class of 2026, followed by the academic procession of the Rector's Office, symbolizing the beginning of one of the most significant milestones in the students' academic journey. The proceedings continued with the Cypriot National Anthem, setting a respectful and ceremonial tone for the evening.

The ceremony featured an inspiring address by Valedictorian Ms. Daria Boiarinova, who reflected on the graduates' shared journey, the friendships formed, the challenges overcome, and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

"If there's one thing these years at AUCY taught me, it's this: nothing we're celebrating tonight came from 'tomorrow.' Every single thing came from a day we decided to begin. So that's my wish for us, Class of 2026. Let's live the way we're built, where every day, something inside us shows up and does the work."

Mr. Christos Karas, Chairman of AUCY's Board of Trustees, then reflected on AUCY's remarkable growth and reaffirmed the university's vision of preparing graduates to become leaders and innovators who will make a positive impact on society.

"In a few moments, you will receive your degree. But that degree is not your destination—it is your passport. What will ultimately determine your future is not simply what you learned here, but how you use that knowledge, your integrity, your sense of responsibility, and your willingness to continue learning throughout your life."

Following the address by Mr. Christos Karas, guests were invited to experience a specially produced video that told the remarkable story of the American University of Cyprus. The Video traced the university's journey from its inception as a visionary idea in 2016 to its transformation into a thriving international institution in 2026. Showcasing the university's most significant milestones, achievements, and moments of growth over the past decade, the video reflected AUCY's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and its vision of shaping future generations.

Following the Video, Dr. Marc-Antoine Zabbal Rector of AUCY Addressed the graduates and encouraged them to embrace every opportunity with confidence and determination.

During his address, he reminded the graduates: "Today is not the end of your journey; it is the beginning of a new chapter. The knowledge you have gained, the friendships you have built, and the values you have embraced will guide you throughout your lives. Believe in yourselves, continue learning, and never stop pursuing your dreams."

Following the address of the Rector, the audience witnessed one of the ceremony's most emotional moments through a surprise video featuring heartfelt messages from the parents of every graduate. Filled with words of love, pride, encouragement, and gratitude, the tribute celebrated the graduates' achievements while recognizing the unwavering support and sacrifices of their families throughout their academic journeys. The deeply moving presentation touched everyone in attendance, bringing many graduates, parents, faculty members, and guests to tears, and creating an unforgettable moment that perfectly captured the spirit of love, perseverance, and accomplishment that defined the evening.

Following the emotional tribute, Mr. Costas Fitiris, The Minister of Justice and Public Order, congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone and highlighted the importance of education, responsibility, and leadership in building a stronger future for Cyprus.

"The degree you receive today opens new doors. Your character will determine how far you go. Society does not need only capable scientists and professionals; it needs people to whom it can entrust tomorrow."

One of the ceremony's most emotional moments was the presentation of an honorary degree in memory of Ms. Maria Aristotelous, recognizing her determination, dedication, and academic journey. The honorary degree was received by her mother on behalf of her family, serving as a touching reminder that the pursuit of knowledge and the impact of one's legacy live on beyond a lifetime.

Mr. Haikal Said: "Although she is no longer with us, her spirit and legacy continue to inspire us. Today, we are deeply honored to present an Honorary Degree to her parents in recognition of Maria's life, her resilience, and the lasting impact she has left on our community."

The conferral of degrees was led by Mr. Farid Haikal, Registrar of AUCY, together with Mr. Costas Fitiris, Minister of Justice and Public Order; Dr. Marc-Antoine Zabbal, Rector of AUCY; Professor Marios Katsioloudes, Vice Rector; and the Deans of AUCY's Faculties: Professor Ioannis Michaloudes, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities; Professor Dario Pontiggio, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics; and Professor Markos Markou, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, officially welcoming the graduates into the global AUCY alumni family.

As each graduate crossed the stage to receive their degree, proud families and friends celebrated years of dedication, resilience, and hard work, creating one of the evening's most memorable moments.

The official ceremony concluded with Dr. Marc-Antoine Zabbal, Rector of AUCY, officially announcing the Class of 2026, followed by a spectacular firework display that celebrated the graduates' achievements and marked the beginning of the next chapter in their lives.

Following the official ceremony, graduates, families, faculty members, and guests continued the celebration at a vibrant graduation party featuring Giorgos Vasiliou, whose energetic performance created an unforgettable atmosphere and provided the perfect conclusion to a memorable evening.
